I’m Ethan Mercer, an Excel educator and the writer behind the tutorials here at The Excel Guide. I believe that getting better at Excel isn’t about memorizing formulas or knowing where every command is. It starts with understanding how Excel works and the logic behind its tools and features.

That’s why I don’t want my tutorials to simply tell you what to click or give you a formula to copy. I want you to understand why a solution works, when it makes sense to use it, and how to adapt it to your own data, workbooks, and problems.

Finding the answer to one Excel problem is useful. Understanding the idea behind that answer is what helps you solve the next one on your own.
